Robert Waggoner Said: It's Not Royal Purple or Valvoline Full Syn But it's Mobil's Best ( Jul. 27th 2010 )
I think this is by far the best motor oil Mobil has ever made, I have used it once in my 2008 Honda Accord, I usually use Castrol or Valvoline, but since they cost more I decided to try this new higher quality Mobil 1. And it sure is a winner, Mobil folks can be proud, they have made a product now as good as Valvoline Full Syn & Castrol Edge...not Royal Purple yet...but who is...?

I have used Mobil 1's extended performance oil in all of my vehicles for several years now. I haven't had any problems using this oil and it has always held up to the advertised 1 year or 15,000 mile usage claim. I no longer have to remember to have my oil changed every 3 months, thus eliminating the risk of forgetting to have it changed and damaging my engine.

My father was a Mobil dealer for over 40 years, and I began using Mobil 1 oil when it first came out. He was also an excellent mechanic, and he taught me the trick to getting the most out of your synthetic oil...
Continue to change your OIL FILTER at 6,000 mile intervals. Keep a quart handy to top off after the filter change. No exaggeration: my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT went 20,000 miles between Mobil 1 changes. I drove that car vigorously. In that time, only 2 filter changes and 1 quart added (the Eclipse uses a small filter).
My 06 Ram requires an oil change every 3500 miles like clockwork. Delay, and I start hearing the lifters tick. Next change will be Mobil 1, which I have hesitated on because 7 quarts of the stuff is pricey, and my father is no longer around to discount me.
If you live in northern US or Canada, consider the 0W-40 formula.
Another piece of advice. Do not store this oil for long periods of time in a location that is subject to sub-freezing temperatures. It will eventually separate, and you will find a white sludge at the bottom of your quart.
Believe the hype. Mobil 1 exceeds its advertising if properly used.

My 2004 BMW suggested this type of engine oil in the manual.
I bought it from amazon and did oil change in a auto repair shop.
This way save me 50% cost than oil change service in BMW authorized shop.
Smart decision.
But next time I should order earlier because ground shipping takes more than one week.
TS Said: Doesn't live up to hype ( Aug. 15th 2009 )
This is OK oil, but I'm rating it one star because it doesn't live up to Mobil's promises and marketing. I am one of the greatest street racers in California and I take my car to the track a lot. Last year I was running "regular" Mobil 1 that I just changed about 500 miles ago and I ran a 10.7 at the track. Then last week under pretty much the same conditions but with Mobil 1 EP that I changed 7000 miles ago I ran a 10.9. So basically performance does not stay consistent after 7000 miles with this oil. There is a definite loss in power.
Overall I think this is good oil and may last longer than regular Mobil 1, but it does need to be changed more frequently than 7000 miles. I wouldn't dream of running to 15,000 like Mobil says, I would be running 11s if I did. So basically Mobil's marketing department has ruined what otherwise could have been a good product.
